Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Ltd., Welwyn Garden City, Herts, introduced three four-wheel-drive loading shovels. Two of these advanced units are to be shown on Stand E8. The L.60 has a bucket with a heaped capacity of 1+ cu. yd. and can lift 3,400 lb. It is powered by a 62 b.h.p. oil engine driving through a torque converter and a hydraulically operated epicyclic gearbox.

A torque converter is also incorporated in the larger L.62 model, but a Ruston and Hornsby 85 b.h.p. air-cooled oil 'engine and a powered-change gearbox, giving four speeds, forward and reverse, are combined with it. Both shovels have power-assisted rear-wheel steering.

Also to be shown are the established Weatherill Type 1211 loading shovel, which is now optionally available with torqueconverter transmission in place of the standard clutch and gearbox, and the small Type S2 loader.

The Shovelall to be exhibited by Stanhay (Ashford), Ltd.. Ashford, Kent (Stand E9), was designed primarily ,for offloading coal from railway wagons into lorries or hoppers. It can, however, be employed for handling almost any material. All movements of the shovel (of 12-cu.-ft. capacity for coal) are controlled hydraulically, and it will pick up from ground level to 6 ft. and discharge at heights of up to 13 ft.

Standard agricultural tractors can be fitted with the Stanhay hydraulic hoist, which is also to be shown. The hoist jib can slew through 275 degrees and will lift 10 cwt. to 11 ft. 9 in. at 5-ft. 4-in. radius.

Easter operation is one of the claims made for the Muir-Hill 2WL Mark II loader by E. Boydell and Co., Ltd., Old Trafford, Manchester. This arises from single-pass shovel filling made possible by the 50-degree roll-back action of the bucket combined with a pry-out force of over 7,000 lb. This model and the 2WL Supalift unit, with high discharge and 6-ft. 8-in. forward bucket reach, will be displayed on Stand F6.

Other Muir-Hill machines on view will include the small LH-1 loader, which requires only 6 ft. 6 in. headroom, is 3 ft. 11 in, wide and has a turning circle of 7 ft. 6 in., and the 3S 1-cu.-yd. dumper. The 3S now has a revised control layout and a heaped body capacity of 30 Cu. ft. Torque converters and Braymatie gearboxes are fitted to two four-wheel-drive tractor shovelsto be displayed by Bray Construction Equipment, Ltd. These are the 110 b.h.p. :BL.460T, which will be shown with a 1-1-cu.-yd. side-tipping bucket in place of the standard 2-cu.-yd. scoop, and the 91 b.h.p. BL.455T fitted with a special hydraulically operated pipe clamp. This model has disc brakes which have proved highly successful and are being incorporated in other Bray tractor shovels. A fork-lift attachment will replace the normal bucket on the BL.430 Brayloader exhibited, whilst another.unit to be shown -will be the Hydraloader based on a standard Fordson tractor.

Small dumpers to be shown by C. H. Johnson (Machinery), Ltd., London, S.W.14, on Stand J4(b) include the 1/20 i-cu.-yd./ 1-ton model which is powered by a single-cylindered, aircooled oil engine driving the rear wheels through a three-speed gearbox. The dumper has a short wheelbase, permitting an outer turning radius of 9 ft. 9 in.

The tractors displayed on Stand E4 by Massey-Ferguson -will be fitted with industrial equipment offered by the manufacturers, The 702 will carry a front-mounted loading shovel which; when fitted with the standard bucket, will lift 2,000 lb. with a tear-away force of 3,000 lb. and discharge at heights of up to 8 ft. 6 in. .

Additional attachments include a scarifier, an angledozer blade, a jib and a fork-lift device, At the back of the tractor will be a 710 digger. Thisdevice has a 200-degree operating arc arid will dig to a depth of 12 ft., discharging up to 10 ft.above ground level. The 735 front-end-mounted loader will be fitted to the 35 tractor shown, while a fOrk-lift attachment capable of lifting 1 ton to a height of 9 ft. 6 in, will be carried at the rear of the unit.
