MORE than 60 north-western operators opposed the application of Pleasureways (1955), Ltd., to link their licences with those of G. Barlow and Sons, Ltd., Oldl-am, at Manchester last week. Mr. S. Moss, for the applicants, said that after the imposition of linking prohibitions by the North Western Traffic Commissioners, Pleasureways made the application in an attempt to continue future operation by linking in every respect with Barlow.
It was essential that they should be allowed to link with Barlow, said Mr. W.
Wolfenden, managing director of Pleasureways. They sought linking throughout their area of operation and would not be content to link a few of their picking-up points, he added.
Mr. F. Williamson, chairman, pointed out 'that on certain • occasions all the passengers on a linked journey could have been picked up at one Barlow point. If this situation arose there was no need for all the points to be linked.
The figures submitted did not show where the passengers had been picked up. The case was adjourned.
