STRIKE IF SERVICES ARE CUT

BELFAST is faced with the threat of a strike of conductors and drivers employed by the municipal transport undertaking. Last week, 300 employees decided that they would refuse to operate the services if the transport committee proceeded with a proposal

to reduce the fresatency of services after 7 p.m, each evening, because of a decline in traffic.

More men, belonging to the Ulster Transport and Allied Operatives' Union, decided to refuse to carry standing passengers if the reduced frequencies were introduced. Other workers—. members of the National Association of Transport Employees—are to meet to decide their attitude.

The management have promised the men that the reduced frequencies will not cause any redundancy.
