BRIG. SIR HARRY TYE ACKESON has joined the board of Martin Walter, Ltd.
MR. REGINALD Boswowrit has been re-elected chairman of theCoventry centre of the Institute of the Motor industry.
MR. R. GRESHAM COOKE has been appointed a director of Kerry's (Great Britain), Ltd. Before his recent election to Parliament, he was director of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
MR. J. R. HArsiatErr, rolling-stock engineer of Bradford Transport Department, has been appointed rolling-stock manager at Huddersfield. He was formerly with the Birmingham municipal undertaking.
MR. G. E. LIARDET, chairman and managing director of Simms Motor Units, Ltd., flew to New York last week to commence a month's tour of the U.S.A. He will visit Springfield, Mass, to further the co-operation between his concern and American Bosch in relation to production and world-wide service.
MR. S. C. BOND has been re-elected president of the Traders' Road Transport Association and reappointed chairman of the national council. The vice-chairmen are MR. C. E. JORDAN, MR. S. H. JONES, MR. R. E. CLOUGH and MR. S. S. ROBSON. MR L. JANES has been appointed national honorary treasurer.

JEitaErr, vice-chairman and tales director of Guy Motors, Ltd., entertained a number of Portuguese operators of Guy vehicles at the annual general meeting of Uniao de Transportadores para Importacao e Cornmercio, Ltda. Among the guests was Da QUINTELLA PAIXAO, directorgeneral of U.T.I.C. Col. Jerrett travelled on to Spain and the Canary Isles afteL leaving Portugal. DR. HORACE W. CLARKE has been elected president of the Aluminium Development Association. The vicechairman is now the HON. GEOFFREY CUNLIFFE.
MR. R. ATKINS has been appointed chairman, and MR. J. H. CRUTCHLEY, MR. R. S. HARRISON and MR. C. H. WittErrs vice-chairmen, of the North Western (Western) Area of the Road Haulage Association.
MR. SIDNEY G. HAWKEY, Of Sully, Blackford and Hawkey, Ltd., bodybuilders, has been elected chairman of the justices at Stratford magistrates' court, East London, the largest petty sessional division in the country.
MR. C. H. S. HAYGARTH, former deputy general manager of Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd., and latterly adviser (marketing), has retired from the company and is now managing director of Pump Maintenance, Ltd. During the war he was joint general sales manager of the Petroleum Board.
MR. TIMOTHY ROOTES has been appointed executive assistant to Ma. G. COZENS, managing director of Commer Cars, Ltd. He is the son of SIR REGINALD ROOTES, vice-chairman of the Rootes Group, which controls Commer, and is a director of Rootes Motors, Ltd. He has gone to Luton from Rootes at Birmingham.
FURTHER TALKS ON ONE-MAN BUSES
AS attempts to settle a dispute between the corporation and transport employees over the operation of one-man buses on a certain route in Sunderland have failed (The Commercial Motor, last week), it is expected that a further meeting will be held between the transport committee and the workers to try to reach a settlement
The employees told the joint consultative committee that they refused to operate the service.
