• Van and car leasing firm Tristar Vehicle Rentals is entering the heavy goods vehicle rental and contract hire sector.
Already two Iveco Ford 22032 6x2 tractive units have been bought. Within the next 12 months the company expects to have a fleet of more than 60 HGVs.
Tristar operates from six UK sites in Croydon, Redhill, Middlesbrough, Walsall, Thornaby and Leeds. By the end of 1991, it wants to have another 30 centres in operation. It says the spot hire fleet will be increased by 25% to 2,000 vehicles and two thirds will be light commercials. The CV contract hire fleet will expand to 150 vehicles over the next year. More than 40% of the fleet will be HGVs.
Company director Alan Locke says: "More and more of our customers, who run Light commercial vehicles, are wanting larger vehicles as their businesses expand."
