Leyland Daf has revealed new lightweight tractive s — and in line with its cy of substituting Daf ens in selected Leyland-built lets, they will be fitted with ch-made power units. revised cab instrumentation.
The 2.88m wheelbase day cab model has an unladen weight of 4.6 tonnes while the longer 3.04m wheelbase sleeper cab model weighs in at an extra 170kg.
The 17.18 is the latest in a series of new models from Leyland Daf. In April, Daf's KT 191 11.6-litre unit was introduced into the six and eightwheeler range while the DNT engine was first used in the 17.18 rigid Freighter 17-tonne chassis in March. The list price of the basic day cab model remains as it was for the earlier Cruiser model at £28,850.
CI Production has started of left-hand drive Leyland Daf 1900s, the first time since the sale of Leyland Trucks that the Leyland plant has produced Daf designs for export.
Trimming of the cabs has been introduced at the Leyland plant, and Daf has also transferred truck cab pressing equipment to the Freight Rover plant in Birmingham.
