TENBY-BASED Enviroventure has lost the 0licence it had been granted after attracting numerous prohibitions while running under interim authority (CM 18 December 2003). The licence had been suspended for the first two weeks of its life; now Welsh Traffic Commissioner David Dixon has revoked it.

He also disqualified Nening Jones from holding an 0-licence for two years; his mother and fellow director Jacqueline was disqualified indefinitely.

Vehicle examiner Neil Thomas told the TC that since the licence was granted the company had attracted a further seven prohibitions listing 16 tyre, brake, exhaust and lighting defects. There was also an incident when a vehicle was used while prohibited. The four-weekly inspection period had not been adhered to, daily walk-round checks had not been made and there was a poor standard of maintenance.

Blaming his maintenance contractor, Jones said he had relied upon other people. The maintenance contractor had since been changed.

He agreed that a number of undertakings he had given when the licence was originally granted had not been fulfilled.

Asked about the use of an untaxed vehicle, he said his mother dealt with vehicle taxation.

Jones said the vehicle used while prohibited had failed its annual test but went on to Cardiff. His instructions that it must travel empty had been disregarded by the driver.

For the company, Paul Carless pointed out that there had been no prohibitions since the maintenance contractor had been changed in May.

Making the revocation and disqualification orders, the TC said he did so in the interests of road users. He did not believe that Jones and his mother had the ability to run a proper road haulage organisation.
