A The Petroleum Spirit (Conveyance by
Road) (Amendment) Regulations 1966 came into operation on September 28. The Petroleum-Spirit (Conveyance by Road) Regulations 1957 provide that the capacity of a tank wagon used in the conveyance by road of petroleum-spirit shall not exceed 4,000 gallons. Under the amendment the maximum permitted capacity is increased to 6,600 gallons.
The 1957 Regulations also required that tank wagons of more than 800 gallons capacity must be divided into compartments none of which should exceed that capacity. Under the new amendment a figure of 1,100 gallons is now substituted for 800 for this purpose.
