GLAMORGAN company was given a stern warning by the South Wales Licensing iority in Cardiff on Tuesday. Mostyn ors (Port Talbot) Ltd., appeared before LA after two examiners found its vehicles unroadworthy.

.n examiner in the South Wales area, Chides Aston, said that he went to lvlostyri ors with another examiner in May 1964. y inspected eight vehicles, five of which they xi with immeate prohibition notices. A I of 59 faults were found, said Mr. Aston, iding brake and steering defects. On three isions when he went to the firm's garage the des were not ready for the inspection.

Sr. Bromley Evans, a director of the corny, said the firm had been in haulage conLing for 30 years. He was told by examiners his vehicles were in a bad condition and in r 1964 he employed a fitter and an apprento do the maintenance work but it was ous that this was not done. This year he dismissed the fitter and went into the maintenance himself with another fitter. They had since worked a proper procedure for repairs obtaining a list of points from the RHA. Every 14 days they worked on the vehicles and each weekend they were greased thoroughly.

The LA, Mr. R. R. Jackson, said there was obviously insufficient regard by the firm of the high standards of maintenance necessary to keep vehicles on the road. It failed to Live up to its obligations and dismissed a fitter because it considered he was to blame. "In my opinion the blame rests on the operators," he said, "and if the other inspection had not taken place then the vehicles would have remained in the same condition."

Since two vehicles had been sold, their registration numbers would be taken from the licences and if when the expiry date of the licences was due the vehicleS were not in a roadworthy condition, the licences would not be renewed, said Mr. Jackson.
