Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UURTHER modifications to the specifi cation of the striking rear-engined double-deckers now associated with Nottingham City Transport have been made on a batch of 30 Daimler Fleetlines with Metropolitan-Cammell-Weymann bodies currently being delivered. Th( buses are 76-seaters, and the chassis are fitted with Gardner 6LX engines and Daimatic semiautomatic transmission.

Magnetic drain plugs are 'fitted in the oil sumps of the engine, transfer box, gearbox and rear axle. In addition a CAV sedimenter is fitted in the fuel line from the tank.

On 28 chassis the dual-circuit brakes are of Clayton Dewandre type and Leeway Engineering Ejectric valves are fitted to the reservoirs. The remaining two chassis are fitted with Magneti-Marelli duplex valves, which ,incorporate the functions of control, unioader, safety, regulator, pressurereducing and moisture ejection valves, together with stop-light and low pressure switches.

A headroom of 6 ft. I in. is provided at the entrance and throughout the lower saloon and a headroom of 5 ft. 10+ in. in the upper saloon of the bodies. A level lowersaloon gangway with a slight ramp down to the entrance platform is provided, the entrance step being 15 in. above the road surface. Smiths demisting and heating equipment is fitted, with all water pipes enclosed within the lower saloon. Both saloon heaters are also housed in the lower saloon, with ducting to the various parts of the bodywork. It is claimed that this arrangement eliminates the possibility of air locks occurring within the water circuits to the heaters and demisters.

Fresh air is admitted to the body through the ceiling cove panels in each saloon via Selectavents above each window. Air is extracted from the upper saloon through four large vents mounted at the front of the vehicle where an area of low pressure exists, producing a natural extraction effect.

A further 35 Fleetlines on order for Nottingham will be similarly equipped, but the bodywork will be built by the Northern Counties Motor and Engineering Co. Ltd.
