NORTH WEST-BASED operator SJ Bargh has completed its move to a new premises in Lancaster.
The transport company had been based three miles away at Caton since 1960. It initially moved into a new 12-bay workshop in Lancaster with an authorised testing facility and offices in 2010.
"We have mothballed the old site, and that will go for development of some type," said MD Stuart Cornthwaite. "We are in the hands of the planners."
Work on the remaining adjacent three acres is now finished. He said the new site puts the firm in a position where it can take advantage from any future business opportunities.
The site includes new offices and facilities, parking, fuel bunkering, a covered transhipment area to transfer collected milk to delivery vehicles and internal tank washing facilities.
The company operates 150 vehicles and 170 trailers, and employs more than 345 people.
In the last financial year the company turned over £30m, which is projected to increase by E2m in the next financial year.
