Eddie Stobart. Britain's favourite road haulier (TM), makes more out of merchandising than it does from transport. Considering the margins a lot of firms operate on we can well believe It. But what to make of the latest addition to the Stobart merchandising empire— this rather fetching Steady Eddie bike?
Available through retailer Ha'fords (which uses... er... TOG for 'its transport needs) the bike comes complete wFth stabilizers (Steady Eddie—see?) in the company's familiar green and red livery. As well as the usual bicycle gubbins like wheels, tyres and brakes It comes with truck headlights and grille and Stobart chevrons (how they differ from ordinary chevrons one can only guess). Additionally there's a Steady Eddie helmet in case your little Eddie is not always Steady enough.
Sadly there's no sign so far of a hi-visibility Stobart drivers' uniform or Indeed any Indication as to whether an annual ministry check Is required to confirm its roadworthiness ("How sunshine, your headlamps is out and those stabilisers have got a nut loose and those brakes aren't going to stop 44 tonnes, are they? Go to your room without any supper!").
