E UK-based Gist, formerly BOC Distribution Services, is tackling the acute shortage of mechanics with a new training programme.

So far six vehicle engineering apprentices have been recruited and are training at Gist sites across the UK. This comprises on-the-job training with day and block release courses at local technical colleges. The training programme has been successful so far, says de Beaux—many of the trainees have management potential to fulfill.
