• Following your story "Tesco crackdown" on hauliers delivering to its depots (CM 24-30 Oct), I would like to suggest that Mr Spittle should get out of

his office and go down to the depots and see what is really going on.

Drivers are treated like idiots by security men and Tesco staff.

I have booked in on my slot at 08:30hrs and have still been waiting at 11.00hrs. No-one seems to hurry up and get the loads off: it's all done in Tesco's slow-to-stop time; forklift drivers break pallets when unloading and then deny they've done it, leaving the driver to carry the can. You cannot argue with Tesco staff, they just refuse to unload you.

really do not know how hauliers put up with the messing about and losing valuable time standing for hours in the depots.

And Mr Spittle has the nerve to say he is cracking down on lorries being late. Does he know what it is like driving lorries in today's traffic, and being held up for hours on the motorways when traffic slows down to walking pace for miles?
