Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

featured in your pages a means of testing the weight of axles single-handed. Now! cannot trace this item. Could you supply me with the name and address of the firm in question?

ATwo machines which we have mentioned

have taken the form of portable weighbridges which can be placed on the ground and the vehicle driven on to them, there being one unit for each wheel, These are the Hawker Siddeley Checkweight marketed by S. G. Brown Ltd., Devonshire Works, Duke's Avenue, London, W.4. and the Auto Weigh manufactured by the Davall Gear Co. Ltd., High Street, Potters Bar. Herts.

Two other systems described recently are built into the vehicles, these being the Ax-Way manufactured by Bowran Design and Technical Developments Ltd., Bowtech House, Dinting Vale, Glossop. Derbys., and the Axle Sensor manufactured by Axle Sensors Ltd., Queensway, Higham Ferrers, Northants.

The first of these utilizes strain gauges fixed to the main spring leaves of the vehicle's suspension and will weigh in cwt. to an accuracy of 1.6 per cent. The second uses a plunger and striker plate which is pre-set to the static load spring condition when the vehicle (or axle) is loaded to the desired maximum weight. This will not record intermediate weights.
