• An Ipswich haulage firm had three vehicles suspended for three months on Wednesday by the deputy Licensing Authority for the Eastern Traffic area, Mr. G. Kidner.

The firm. Peter Miller Haulage Ltd., had 10 vehicle convictions since July 1965 and five GV9s since June this year. Mr. M Gotelee, appearing for the firm, said that the convictions involved bad maintenance, overloading, excise licences and a driver's record.

A director of the firm, Mr. A. Miller, said that there had been exceptional circumstances involved with the offences. In May this year they had moved premises and the new premises were equipped with pits and other maintenance facilities which the other place had lacked.

They now had 21 vehicles. 15 of which had been purchased over the last two years, and employed four fitters and a fleet foreman. As far as the GV9s were concerned, two of these were due to accident damage.

Mr. Kidner said that he had listened to the evidence and the explanations given and although he accepted the explanations, there were still "really too many offences".

He added: "I accept that until the middle of this year the company was not in satisfactory premises and that they are now in good premises with proper facilities."
