LET-THE LOCAL PUB SELL THE LOCAL BREW WHY was so much transport used in sending beer brewed in one county to another county, asked Mr. Thorpe in Parliament last week. Major Lloyd George replied that upwards of 90 per cent. of the beer produced in the United Kingdom was distributed within 30 miles of the brewery where it

was produced. The practicability of effecting further economies in the transport of beer sent to greater distances was under close examination.

A REVISED specification leaflet of Specialloid pistons for producergas conversions has recently been issued by Specialloid, Ltd., Finchley Works, London, N.12. It includes a list of pistons for 16 makes oLengine in' which are shown the old.2..nd new compression ratios, the numbers of cylinders, bores, reference numbers and prices. In several cases the pistons listed are for oil-engine conversions. Details are given of the piston with special turbulence-promoting crown, which the company has developed for producer gas, and there is brief information relating to the high-compression cylindet heads offered by certain makers.
