Four weeks to supply financial statements

AN OPERATOR HAS been warned that its licence will be revoked unless it supplies further information on its finances within four weeks.

Reynolds Transport (Hereford) had been called before Roger Seymour, West Midlands Deputy Traffic Commissioner, but failed to appear. The firm had appeared at previous public inquiries in 2003 and 2007, when maintenance was at issue.

The DTC was also considering the repute of the firm's transport manager, David Williams.

Consideration of action against the licence was adjourned for 28 days, with a warning that it would be revoked unless the financial data requested was submitted during that time.

The DTC said that various undertakings were given on the previous occasion, some of which seemed not to have been fulfilled. particularly those related to roller brake testing.

In addition, a large number of inspection records were missing and director Adrian Reynolds had claimed they were stolen from his car the night before the maintenance investigation.

He noted this was the second time Reynolds had claimed a loss of documents due to theft before a maintenance investigation.

He needed Reynolds to appear before him to answer for the absence of records.

The DTC said he intended ruling that Williams had lost his repute subject to any written representations within 28 days, adding that at the last inquiry Williams had been told his repute was tarnished.

Clearly, he had not exercised continuous and effective control of the operation.

Seymour also noted that on the previous occasion, Reynolds had said that it was his intention to replace Williams, but that had not occurred.
