Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE National Council for the Omnibus -L Industry was due to meet yesterday (Thursday-) to discuss the recommendations of the Wilson Committee of Inquiry into the claims for higher pay and other benefits for company busmen, as reported last week.

It was expected that both sides would accept the recommendations, but details of implementation required some discussion.

Meanwhile, several companies have estimated the increased costs which the awards would involve and in some cases have already applied for higher fares. Ribble Motor Services is one of these, the company estimating that the award will cost them over £245,000, and United Automobile Services put their extra-cost figure at around £300,000. They, too, have applied for a fares variation, while Cumberland Motor Services Ltd. and the Western SMT Co. are expected to do so shortly.

The largest single increase in costs is likely to be that borne by the Scottish Omnibuses Group, which will have to find about £2.5m. a year to cover the full award.
