A SHEFFIELD removals firm is to go into liquidation only a year after the directors bought the assets and goodwill of a company that traded under the same name.
KPP Services was incorporated shortly before HBC South Yorkshire appointed administrator Wilson Field in February 2012, after it experienced financial trouble.
Both companies traded as Housley Removals and had Kevin Housley, Philip Housley and Peter Norman as common directors. According to the administrator's statement of proposals, HBC South Yorkshire's assets and goodwill were sold to KPP Services on 1 February 2012 for £10,394, after making 10 employees redundant.
The same directors continued to trade under the Housley Removals name.
KPP Services, licensed to run three vehicles, appointed joint liquidators Andrew Clay and Rob Sadler of Begbies Traynor on 14 February. The liquidators were unavailable for comment at the time of going to press. According to its statement of affairs, KPP Services owed £122,023 as of 14 February, including £28,350 owed in VAT, national insurance and PAYE to HMRC. It also owed £72,118 in redundancy and holiday pay.
The liquidators are expected to meet a deficiency of £95,303 in regard to meeting the sum owed to creditors.
The directors were unavailable to comment.
