il Two British drivers working for Dutch haulier GM De Ho have been fined after pleading guilty to driving over-leN drawbar rigs. Southampton magistrates heard that K& fhomas from Essex and Peter Davison from Derbyshi were stopped driving Dutch-registered vehicles carrying C chassis-cabs from Leyland to Southampton docks. The dra bars were more than a metre over the UK limit, even aft disregarding the overhanging load.

The defence counsel said both drivers had worked for I Rooy for some years and were based in the Netherlane they did their best to comply with the regulations but thoug their jobs might be in jeopardy if they failed to carry the: loads in the UK.

Thomas and Davison were each fined £100 with 170 costs— and they were warned that if they failed to pay within 28 days their UK assets could be seized, even though they worked for a Dutch company.
