The new 0404 should be launched on the Continent later this year; initially it will be available as an integral, but chassis versions are expected to follow It will replace the 15-year-old 0303; more than 30,000 integral and bodied chassis have been sold, including 150 in the UK.

The 0404 is expected only to be available as a 12m in the UK. It follows on from a lowspecification version of the 0303, which was introduced on the Continent about three months ago.

An economy version of the 0303 is called the Transfer. It is mechanically and structurally the same as the 0303, but has a simpler trim and finish and straight glass side windows instead of curved.

The Transfer is not ex

The first Transfers have already gone into service in Switzerland and the model is currently being type approved for France.

The 46-seat version of the Transfer costs about £140,000, inclusive of double glazing, toilet, refrigerator, video installation, ABS/ASR and Voith retarder.

It is powered by an OM 442 engine which produces 460kW (349hp) through a MercedesBenz six-speed gearbox.

The Transfer has a high floor which gives an underbody luggage space of 11nr3.
