• This is the first factorybuilt eight-wheel Volvo heavy haulage tractive unit in the UK, which is now in service with Cliffe Group of Rochester, Kent (CM 28 February-6 March). The outfit, which runs with a Nicolas low loader, costs almost £200,000. Grossing at 200 tonnes it has a torque convertor with a lock-up multi-disc clutch, a one-way clutch for engine braking and a manual separating clutch for gear shifting. It will climb a 16% gradient fully laden.
