Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Iveco Ford's 49.12 and 59.12 charge-cooled versions of the Daily light van range (CM 24-30 January), introduced at the Brussels Show, are now available in the UK.

Power from the 2.5-litre direct-injection Sofim engine has been up rated by 12%, to 85kW (115hp) at 3,800rpm, setting a specific output record of 34.4kWilitre. Torque is up by about 9%, to 245Nm (1811bft) at 2,000rpm, allowing the range to be extended from the current five-tonne GVW to six tonnes.

With a 25% hemier chassis, and larger brakes, payload is increased from 2.6 to 3.15 tonnes. Changes to the engine include a revised combustion chamber bowl for a more efficient burn and a new oil gallery to help piston cooling. Injection equipment has been refined with the introduction of a Bosch VR rotary pump and five-hole injectors to give a finer spray pattern.

Other changes include the KKK type K14 turbocharger. a revised timingbelt profile to prevent slippage and a flywheel damper for smooth running. The redesigned aluminium gearbox, complete with bell housing, features a wider contact area between meshing gears while a change to a pulltype clutch is said to increase torque capacity with reduced pedal effort.

The 49.12 and 59.12 models both offer 10% more cube. Body capacity is increased from 15.4ar1 to 17m3 by an extra 170mm head room, giving a ceiling of 2,100mm on 3.95m wheelbase models. A top-hinged upper closure, sup

ported on gas struts, allows full-height access from the rear. At the front headlamp beam levelers become a standard feature throughout the range. Chassis-cab variants on the 3.3m wheelbase now include factory fitted twoand three-row crew-cabs.
