Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The design of these lifts incorporates a feature that protects the lifting screws from damage in the event of the lift being lowered onto an obstruction.

As the obstruction takes the load, so one or more lifting screws will be relieved of their hanging loads. Further downward operation of the drive system will cause the screw to be driven upwards. To avoid damage to the screws, the split collets, which normally support the screw and its load, will be ejected from their support housing at the top of the column.

Before further operation of the lift, it is important that the collets, drive screw and woodruff key are relocated by a trained and competent

person.

Failure by the operator to report that the lift has been obstructed could lead to a dangerous SituatiOn.

You are therefore advised to check the state of your own lift, and instruct staff of the correct procedure in the event of lift obstruction.

In pursuance of their policy of continual product improvement, Tecalemit Garage Equipment are currently developing a device to give visual warning of such an incident.

Users wishing to have this device fitted to their lifts, should contact Tecalem it Garage Equipment Service Department Phone: (0752) 701212 for details of price and availability.
