A PliBLIC service vehicle operator engaged in school contract work for Knowsley Education Authority was fined a total of E225 plus 10 costs before Huyton Magistrates on March 20.

Allan Reginald Honnor trading as Allan Travel, Prescott, pleaded guilty to using a vehicle displaying false psv and excise licences with intent to deceive; to using vehicles without psv or excise licences; using vehicles under prohibition; and to driving a vehicle when his psv licence has expired.

Mr Brian Green, prosecuting for the North Western Traffic Commissioners. said Allan Travel was engaged in school contract work in the Huyton and Prescott areas and the offences were very serious. A DoE traffic examiner Mr H. Ratcliffe said that the firm operated five public service vehicles on school contract work services and private hire. After stopping one of the vehicles which had been given a defects notice some time previously hut bad never been cleared he found that the psv licence of Mr Honnor who was driving had expired six months previously. Despite a promise that the defects would he remedied the same vehicle was again in use on school work the following day without having been repaired. Further investigation disclosed the other offences.

Mr Honnor was present in court but offered no evidence in mitigation of the offence. He was given 14 days to pay the fine.
