Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO fully enclosed articulated units have been supplied to I.T.D., Ltd., Webb Lane, Birmingham, 28, for use as mobile demonstration units. They have Carrirnore 8-ton cranked-frame semitrailers and the prime movers are Austin 7-ft. 1-in.-wheelbase oil-engined. chassis, fitted with Carrimore S.A.E. quickcoupling turntables.

Each outfit is 35 ft. long and the overall height laden is 11 ft. 81 in. The Carrimore body is of composite construction and the interior height is 9 ft. The interior width is 7 ft. 1 in. and the length of the main deck 18 ft. 11 in.

Single tyres are fitted-14.00-20-in. (18 ply) or Michelin 0.20 Y-type. This is to reduce the size of the wheel-arches, with the result that floor width between them is 4 ft. 91 in. The laden floor height is 2 ft. 4 in.

The rear of the body is closed by a folding spring-balanced two-piece loading ramp made of light alloy, which when folded down and opened up is 13 ft. 4 in. long, providing a gradient of I in 7. The rear of the floor aft of the axle, is also inclined at the same gradient.

I.T.D., Ltd., will use the vehicles to carry 'Clark, Elcctricar or Stacatruc forklift or works trucks. Before taking delivery of these articulated vehicles such equipment had to be taken to demonstrations on hired low-loaders, and loading and unloading were somewhat protracted. With the new semi-trailers a truck can be unloaded in under three minutes singlehanded. The bodies can take two large ox four small machines.

The platform over the turntable is 8 ft. 3 in. long and there is a 4-ft. 6-in.wide roller shutter at each side of the body. This forward compartment, which is open to the main body, can be used for storing loose equipment, such as jibs, booms and pallets, and houses a handoperated winch for loading disabled equipment.

At the rear there is a sliding shutter in the roof which can be opened to allow fork-lift trucks with high masts protruding above the roof line to be carried. Each semi-trailer has screw-actuated support legs for use when the tractor is disconnected. Roof lights are fitted inside the body.
