LIQUIDATORS FOR reefer and waste transport business Macaskill Haulage have sold two of the firm’s depots to boost the chances of a return for creditors.
The Scottish haulier’s closure at the end of last year came as a shock to the sector and marked a sad end to the long-established firm (CM 5 January).
KPMG says it immediately made 44 employees redundant before it began to realise its assets.
A KPMG spokesman says: “We have now sold two of the company’s properties – the Isle of Lewis site, which was its Stornoway HQ, and the Blantyre depot. All transport-related assets have been sold in addition to those two properties.” The spokesman was unable to confirm the name of the purchaser; however, he says that once the remaining assets have been sold, which include depots in Uist and Inverness, it can begin settling creditors’ claims. It is not yet known if unsecured creditors will receive a dividend.
