Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THERE WAS STILL confusion this week overthe future of Ferryways, the Belgium-based shipping line which operated roll-on roll-off (RO-RO) services to Immingham, Tilbury and Ipswich.

It has been a turbulent June for the company, which was bought by Belgian operator and competitor Cobelfret at the beginning of the month. Less than two weeks later, Cobelfret switched some Ferryways ships to another company, then on 14 June, Ferryways services were suspended and the company went into administration.

Cobelfret's Antwerp office said this week that Ferryways was in the hands of administrators but refused to comment further.

Lloyd's List, the shipping industry newspaper, says that in Belgium, Ferryways is being run by a three-person expert committee while its accounts are being examined.

Cobeltret has started running replacement services to Purfieet under the Dart Line brand. A spokesman for the Port of London Authority, which operates Furfleet, says: "It is not clear to me exactly what has happened at Ferryways, but it is true that Dart Line has started running services between Ostend and Purfleet."

Ferryways formerly operated three calls a day to Ipswich, two to Tilbury and one to Immingham.
