UNDER A MULTI-millionpound contract-hire deal, Ryder is supplying 26 Daf CF430 tractor units and 102 13.6-metre doubledeck trailers to City Link.
The tractor units and trailers are based at City Link's central sorting hubs in Wednesbury and Coventry, "We spent nine months taking a consultative approach to City Link's requirements before constructing a solution that combined the best support infrastructure network available with the perfect specification of vehicles," says Peter Backhouse, vice-president and managing director of Ryder Europe.
"City Link operates a strict policy of dual sourcing," says Mo Kafu. City Link operations director.
"We had previously sourced trunkers from both Fraikin and Lex. However, when Fraikin acquired Lex we sought another supplier and chose Ryder based on our previous good experience of working with the company."
