• RCV hydraulics work continually at extreme operating pressures and temperatures. If neglected, the oil's cooling and lubricating properties can break down and damage the system. Using the tank's sight glass on the front bulkhead, the oil level is checked regularly: daily by the operative and as part of a 4/6-weekly service by the mechanic. The oil is changed annually, or after any major hose failure or serious body damage.
