• A West German company, Gesellschaft fur Systemtechnik of Essen, has developed a test vehicle to combat oil spillages.
Its low ground pressure of 0.05 bar enables it to operate on mudflats fully laden.
The amphibious vehicle measures 8.1m long and 3.5m wide and has an unladen weight of 11 tonnes.
