Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Land Rover launched its latest forward-control vehicle at the British Army Equipment Exhibition at Aldershot to assess its military potential. Its two-tonne payload also gives it potential civilian uses, particularly in chassis cab form.

It is based on the standard 2.8m wheelbase One-Ten chassis and driveline but breaks away from tradition by using a hinged, three-man tilt cab made by Motor Panels in Coventry from composite panels. These are bonded to a tubular steel and aluminium framework to form a strong, durable structure.

For detailed work on the engine, the cab can be tilted forward by hand to 450 with torsion bar assistance. Daily maintenance checks, such as engine oil and coolant dips, can be carried out with the cab still locked down.

Power for the prototype is provided by a 100kW (134hp) 3.5-litre V8 petrol engine, but a diesel engine will be offered later.

The rest of the driveline is pure Land Rover One-Ten, with a 185 five-speed gearbox, an LT230 two-speed transfer box with electricallylockable centre differential, and permanent four-wheel drive. A centre power takeoff can be fitted for driving auxilliaries, including winches.

Both axles are fully floating hypoid with 4.7:1 ratio differentials and coil spring suspension is fitted with anti-roll bars front and rear. Power steering is standard.

Braking is unchanged with dual-circuit servo-assisted discs at the front and drums at the rear.

The 4,000kg GVW show model, with its aluminium dropside body and canvas tilt, has a kerb weight of 2,000kg. This gives it a payload which will also interest public utilities, local authorities, and vehicle recovery operators.

A full dropside body is also planned to give full load access to its 3m long loadbed.
