TRANSPORT services in certain towns and villages in the rural parts of Scotland had now reached a point of crisis and breakdown, claimed Mr Jim Sillars (Labour, South Ayrshire) in the Commons last week. '
He asked for an immediate inquiry into Scottish rural transport problems, but Mr Bruce Milian, Minister of State at the Scottish Office, said he did not think this was called for at present.
