A licence with a manufacturing company to carry its products to building sites throughout the country. The company supplies a vehicle and pays £25 per week wages, plus hire purchase instalments and running costs. I am at present employed as a driver—would you suggest that I accept this offer?
The future in road transport is in some doubt and will remain so until the Transport Bill becomes law. As an owner-driver you will be required, under the new law, to comply with it in the same way as you would if you were controlling a much larger fleet.
It is suggested, therefore, that you should consider very carefully whether or not the remuneration offered is worth the additional responsibility which you would undoubtedly be required to carry.
