• Latest addition to the super luxury executive coach fleet of Evan Evans Ltd. London, is a Duple-bodied Daimler Roadliner with Cummins VIM V-6. Called Quicksilver, the new vehicle has been designed to provide the ultimate in travel for parties of VIP visitors to conferences and social events such as the Glyndebourne festival and Ascot races.

The interior of the vehicle is luxuriously appointed. It is trimmed throughout in black and white PVC and equipped with Chapman fully reclining seats for a total of 22 passengers. A further eight seats are arranged in a conference or lounging area at the rear of the coach.

The vehicle has a fully equipped pantry area which includes a refrigerator and a small sink. A low-level hanging locker for passengers' top coats is sited over the offside front wheel arch. Forced fresh-air ventilation with outlets at each seat and individual focusing reading lights are provided. A closed-circuit television linked in with the radio and public address system is also installed.

During the demonstration run from London to Ascot and back I felt that there could have been a more imaginative layout of the seats to give more leg room. I thought that more could have been done to eliminate the engine noise but from an aesthetic point of view the vehicle was excellent. At £15,000 this must be about the most luxurious coach there is.

• The 80 Leyland Worldmaster single-deck buses now in operation in Bucharest (of which one was illustrated in CM on April 26) are to be joined by a further 100, to be delivered during the corning winter, As the illustrations show, these buses are designed on the Continental pattern; they have seats for 24/26 but can carry 70 standees.

The vehicles have bodies by Merkavim Metal Works Ltd. and Ha'argaz Ltd., both of Tel Aviv, Israel.
