• Morton's, Coventry-based international haulier, has been awarded a two year, kim contract by the Tractor Operations of the Ford Motor Company Ltd. for ferrying tractor parts between Ford factories and suppliers in the UK and the Ford tractor factory in Antwerp. Belgium.
Mr. Jack Worsley, Morton's home and overseas freight sales executive who has been responsible for negotiating the contract, says that 65 TIR trailers—all in Ford blue livery—are being introduced into the company's fleet to cope with the 400 tons of Ford parts which will be ferried between Britain and Belgium each day.
The trailers, each with a 20-ton carrying capacity, are specially built Merriworths, 31ft long, 7ft 6in. wide and with a loading space of 8ft 4in. so that fork-lift trucks can be used for loading and unloading inside them.
