• By exporting a record total of 195,195 vehicles, including 15,056 commercial vehicles, during the first five months of 1968 British Leyland claims the title of Britain's biggest exporter. The figure represents a 32.5 per cent increase on the combined exports of the member companies during the same period in 1967 and, with components and spares, adds up to 133m.
Sir Donald Stokes comments: "One of our objectives in forming the company was to become this country's largest exporter and these figures show that this objective has been dramatically achieved."
