This was pointed out by the North Western Deputy. Licensing Authority, Mr. J. R. Lindsay, at the Continued hearing at Manchester, last Friday, of an application by Messrs_ H. and H. R. Vernian„Wirisford,, for a B licence to carry • livestock. within 50 mites. (The Commercial' MOtor, May 10).
Mr. Lindsay ruled that one of the objectors, A. Rowlands and Sons (Boughton), Ltd., Who said they were not present at the original hearing because they had not been notified, could not be heard hecause the applicant had closed his case.
• Mr, James Booth, for Messrs. M. Jones and Son, said they had five livestock vehicles on A licence based at Newton-by-Frodsham. One of them
served the Winsford area. Its .operating eentfe was at Cuddington, four miles from Winsford, and it was at present idle two days 'a week.
Questioned by Mr. 1: Hall, for the applicant, Mr. T. G. Jones said he took the 'vehicle to his home address in Cuddington every night and orders from Winsford customers were received there There was a surplus of livestock vehicles in the area and a B licence for similar
work 'was up for sale. .
Mr. Hall said that at first this vehicle was Claimed Co be based at Cuddington, but it nciw appeared that it was based at Frodsharn, nine miles from Winsford. The so-called operating centre at Cuddington would disappear at once. if it was disclosed they were carrying on business from a council house.
Refusing the application, Mr. Lindsay said there was not Sufficient evidence to justify a grant.
