The Ossett proposal to divert existing through services into the bus statidn would add 15,600 miles a year to the fleet's running costs . with no extra revenue. He added that traffic conditions in the town did not warrant a bus station.

Mr. G. W. Battensby, manager of the Yorkshire Woollen District Traction Co., Ltd., said that constantly rising costs were worrying all transport concerns.

For the council, Mr. P. H. Hallam said that after seven years of negotiations the two companies had been prepared to finance a station up to September, J956, when talks fell through owing to their unwillingness' to pay 'rates for it.

Mr. Randolph reserved his decision.
