A CONTROVERSIAL Belfastbased waste management company has been lined £27,500 for breaking waste regulations.

Euroskips, was charged with keeping and disposing of controlled waste in a way not in accordance with a waste management licence and likely to cause environmental pollution or harm to human health.

In April last year enforcement officers from Northern Ireland's Environment and Heritage Service found biodegradable house hold waste, foodstuffs, electrical goods. paper, textiles and green wastes in the company's yard at Castlereagh Road, Belfast.

In court officers said they identified some of this waste as having come illegally from the South.

The directors of Euroskips are Cyril James McGuinness, generally known as Dublin Jimmy, of Tee more, Co Fermanagh, and Cormac McCaffrey, of Maguiresbridge, Co Fermanagh. Both are currently on bail for allegedly smuggling 28,000 tonnes of waste.
