• A small but powerful headlight system, using a gas discharge bulb, has been developed by Bosch to complement modern aerodynamic: With a power input of 35 watts, the discharge bulb produces about two-and-a-half times the light of a standard twin-filament halogen bulb requiring 64 watts.
The bulb containing the gas and metal vapour has a capacity of only 0.03cm3. Whe switched on, two electrodes strike an arc, ironizing the gas at an extremely high temperature to produce light. Heat clisipation is minimal and long-service life is predicted.
