Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A 73-seat Leyland Atlantean has entered service with J. Fishwick and Sons Ltd, a 43-vehicle operator in the Leyland, Lanes, area. Although currently fitted with a single entrance/exit door, the body — the first double-decker to be built by W. and H. Fowler, of Leyland — contains steps and operating gear for a second door which could be installed behind the front axle. At present the space is panelled and glazed normally and the steps boxed over with a luggage compartment.

The Leyland area is scheduled for development as a new town and the operator expects sufficient extra traffic to be generated for the second door to be fitted.

Polystyrene insulation is sandwiched between outer and inner panels of the body and independent heating and ventilation systems for upper and lower decks is arranged, with KL 650 units mounted together beneath a seat on the upper deck and controlled by a "dial-a-temperature" control on the instrument panel: on the lower deck hot air is directed over side windows for demisting purposes.
