BENCH Divisional Court on Friday granted S. H. McCall Transport (Glasgow) Ltd., haulage contractors, of Helen Street, Glasgow, leave to apply for an order quashing a decision of the Northern Traffic Area Licensing Authority at Carlisle on July 11 directing that two vehicles be removed from its A licence.

Lord Justice Edmund Davies, who sat with Mr. Justice Lawton and Mr. Justice Cusack, told Mr. Richard Yorke, for the company, that the court had read the papers in the case and would grant leave.

Applying for an early hearing, Mr. Yorke said: "The penalty we are suffering is running at the rate of 110,000 a year. If you direct an early hearing, the Licensing Authority may take administrative action to prevent the loss running".

Lord Justice Edmund Davies said the Divisional Court would resume its sittings on October 16 and the case would be heard soon afterwards.
