Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

GROSS receipts of Southdown Motor Services. Ltd.. amounting to

£2,980,000 in the past year, showed a decrease for the first time in many years, said Mr. R. P. Beddow. M.Inst.T., chairman, at the company's annual general meeting.

Many steps had been taken to stabilize working costs. but a heavy additional item had now occurred with the increased fuel tax. This would cost the company about £130,000 per annum, An expansion in the company's programme of holiday tours took place. The number of bookines cancelled since the derationing of petrol was small.

Co-ordination arrangements with the railways continued. said Mr. Beddow. Of the company's 150 stage-carriagc services, only 10 per cent, did not serve a railway station. No less than 87 per cent. of the railway stations and halts in the area covered by arrangements with the Southern Region of British Railways were served by at least one Southdown stage-carriage service.
