TRAFFIC SPEEDS in West London have fallen and industrial competitiveness is being threatened by traffic congestion. Unless an improved network is built the decline will continue, said Movement For London IMFLI Secretary Jeremy Hawksley.
Speaking to the Confederation of British Industry's West London Area Committee, the MFL, part of the British Road Federation, said that over 95 per cent of London's freight is delivered by road, but due to lack of road building in the past 10 years, average traffic speeds have fallen as the number of vehicles on the roads has grown.
Mr Hawksley called on industry support for major road improvements.
