Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Coil company

THE Boughton Group has purchased the entire equity in Winn Boughton Ltd — joint venture company formed with Winn industries Ltd in 1973 to develop and manufacture an entirely new concept in coil handling and transport techniques.

Two systems — a Coltainer and Coil Pallet — have been developed to date by the company for the safe movement of heavy coils of steel and other cylindrical objects by road, rail and sea. Further developments are in progress.

Road link?

THE Transport Department is to consider whether there should be additional road finks between Manchester and Sheffield, said Mr John Horarn, the Under Secretary.

He was asked in the Commons about the improvement and integration of heavy freight transport between Yorkshire and Lancashire by Mr Andrew Bennett (Labour Stockport) who spoke of strong rumours that British Rail intended to make line closures in the area.

French depots

FERRYMASTERS France has bought four new Scania III tractive units for operation in its depots at Calais and Le Havre bringing the total number of units in France to 32.

The purchase is in addition to the £330,000 order for tractive units and trailers for use on TIR work placed by the company last year.

During 1976 Ferrymasters committed over £3million to new equipment including warehousing facilities and new depots.

Hazchem code

FOLLOWING an article in January 14 issue of CM, "Breakdown call for caution," we should like to make it clear that legislation for making the Hazchem code compulsory is in draft form only. It has been circulated for comment, and is not at the moment law.
