AFURTHER 40 major trunk road improvement schemes in England, estimated to cost some £60m,, are to be prepared in detail for inclusion in the Minister of Transport's programme about 1970.
The original five-year "rolling programme" of trunk road schemes, launched in 1962, consisted of 1 1 1 major schemes, then estimated to cost about £120m. In 1963, a further 36 schemes, then estimated to cost £45m., were added; and in 1964, 19 schemes, estimated to cost £50m., were announced as about to be prepared in detail for inclusion in the programme.
