Mr. Frank Brooks, who for nearly two years has been chief designer of ERE Ltd., Sandbach, has left to take the post of chief engineer to W. El. Dorman and Co. Ltd., engine manufacturers, of Stafford. A new appointment at ERF is expected to be announced shortly. Before joining ERF Mr. Brooks was chief contracts engineer at Gardner Engines, Patricroft, Manchester.

Mr. Frank Misdate has joined MagirusDeutz (Concessionaires) Ltd., as general manager. His previous posts have included that of sales director and general sales manager of Duple Motor Bodies Ltd., and also general manager of the commercial vehicle and engine division of Mercedes Benz (Great Britain) Ltd.

Last week Mr.John Murly retired from chairmanship of the international group of the RHA. His term of office was probably a record, since he was elected at the inaugural meeting of the old

international road transport committee of the RHA on January 21, 1958. Nearly 40 members of the group attended last week in order to express their appreciation of his services to international transport. In his closing remarks as chairman, Mr. Murly expressed his sincere appreciation of the group's long confidence in him and recorded his thanks for the support given to him by members of the group, by his two vice-chairmen (Mr. John Ellis and Mr. Charles Oliver) and by the staff of the RHA, particularly the executive secretary. Mr. John Silberrnann, a former vicechairman of the group, voiced the gratitude of the group and highlighted the achievements of the chairman in the sphere of international haulage.

Mr. R. C. Howes has been appointed a director and general sales manager of Duple Group Sales Ltd. He was formerly commercial vehicle district manager with the Ford Motor Co. Ltd.

Mr. Frank B. Ford, sales director of Plaxtons (Scarborough) Ltd., flew to the West Indies last week, following up many inquiries for the export market in luxury coaches for that area.

Following the resignation of Mr. J. E. Drinkwater as managing director of Tecalemit (Engineering) Ltd., Mr. John M. Bennett has been appointed to replace him. Mr. Bennett, who is 38, is a qualified and practical engineer with a broad experience of managing various sizes of industrial companies. Mr. Nigel J. Bennett, managing director of Tecalemit Ltd., the holding company, is chairman of Tecalemit (Engineering) Ltd.

Following a Scammell Lorries Ltd. sales reorganization, Mr. Walter F. Hall is now manager, special products. He was formerly sales manager for all Scammell vehicles, a position he had held since 1947. Mr. Eric Dando becomes manager, home sales. He was appointed assistant sales manager last year. Mr. Peter Wood, who joined the company in 1960 as publicity manager, is now sales promotion and publicity manager.

Mr. Charles Alexander, of Aberdeen, has gone to Australia at the invitation of the Transport Development Group Ltd. to investigate transport techniques in use there. His visit will include inspection of TDG haulage interests in Australia acquired two years ago.

Five senior executives of the Ford Motor Co. Ltd. have been elected to the board—Mr. S. G. Forsyth (director, commercial vehicles), Mr. T. N. Beckett (director, car division), Mr. H. F. Copp (director, engineering), Mr. J. M. Kulpers (director, stamping and assembly group) and Mr. S. T. Rees (director, power train and hot metal group).

At the a.g.m. of the Birmingham area of the TRTA on Monday, Mr. G. A. Morgan (Midland Counties Dairy Ltd.) was elected chairman, with Mr. J. Harrison (Austin Motor Co. Ltd.) deputy chairman, and Mr. E. G. Carson (Cadbury Bros. Ltd.) and Mr. B. J. Pratt (Lunt Comley and Pitt Ltd.) vice-chairmen.

Mr. R. P. Roche has joined the board of Firestone Tyre and Rubber Co. Ltd. as director, manufacturers' sales. Mr. Roche has been with the company for 34 years, initially as a sales representative.

Mr. J. Rowland-Rouse, Press and public relations officer with the Martin Walter group, has retired. The company is retaining his services in an advisory capacity as Press officer.
