FITTING PADS

Back off the adjuster and remove both pads. adore replacing them check that the caliper slides freely, examine the tappet boots and those on the guide pin sleeve. When renewing pads, always change the complete axle set.

FITTING BOOTS

To change a tappet boot, screw in the adjuste and, remove the tappet using the special forked wedge tool. Lever off the tappet bush then carefully prise out the old boot. After cleaning and greasing the threaded tube end, press in the new boat (and tappet head) using the special tool provided.

USING WEDGE ICI REMOVE FOOT

Use the forked wedge to remove the tappet foot from the threaded tube. Always check the condition of the inner seal—if it Is damaged the whole caliper should be replaced.

ADJUSTING SLEEVE

To check that the adjuster works verify the normal 0.5-1.0mm running clearance, remove the end cap and turn the adjuster anti-clockwise a few clicks. Apply the brake a few times and watch the spanner flick clockwise at each application. Grease the cap and replace.
